How well paddlers from the Western Cape Canoe Union fared at the recent 30th Fish River Canoe Marathon

The commentator was heard to refer to the ….”Cape storm”…..of paddlers, and although the winner were from KZN, WCCU paddlers made their mark is a number of important areas – for example, this also being an Inter-Provincial event, the 1st 6 paddlers from any of the provinces taking part were from the WCCU – (Tom Schilperoodt/Jasper Mocke – 2nd overall, Edgar Boehm jnr/Alasdair Glass – 8th overall and Lance Kime/Stuart MacLaren – 10th overall).

In addition, and every year, an Inter-varsity event is also held on the Fish and this year the trophy went to the to the Maties Canoe Club from Stellenbosch – Lance Kime, Pierre-Andre Rabie, Adrian Bam, Rory Sandberg, Owen Gandar, Mike Hay, Troy Haworth, Simon Oosthuizen, Julian Atkinson.

In addition to the abovementioned, WCCU paddlers who won places on the podium in their various classes follow – in bold/red.
