The final K2 canoe race before the annual Breede River Canoe Marathon (5th/6^th September), and held over the 35.2 km section between Bonnivale and Kambati Resort on the Breede River, was won by Gavin White/Graeme Solomon (Peninsula), to take their haul of K2 wins for the season to 3 and undoubtedly puts them in a good position to win the marathon this coming weekend.

Alexa Cole/Jackie Barnes (Pen/UCT) dominated the women’s section of the event and so must also be considered favourites for the marathon.

But both of these crews will be challenged come the weekend, both by local and upcountry crews and new combinations, so the outcome is not a simple one to predict.
