All Canoe Clubs please note: The junior sprint season is upon us with the Triple Sprint Challenge 2010 starting shortly. The dates for the events has changed from the dates as given on the WCCU Callandar. Please inform all your Junior and U/23 paddlers accordingly. The new dates for the “Junior Triple Sprint Challenge 2010” are: · Sat 16 October 2010 at Paarl Canoe Club (changed) · Sat 23 October 2010 at Harmony Canoe Club · Sat 6 November 2010 at Paarl Canoe Club (final event and prize giving) Please note the following: · Registration starts at 08h00 to 08h45 · Racing starts at 09h00 promptly · The distances for all age groups are: 200m, 500m, 1000m and Long Distance (2000m for the U/8, U/10 and U/12 // 3000m for U/14, U/16, U/18 and U/23) · All age groups will participate in the age groups for next year (2011 year) to prepare them for the 2011 season. See below the relevant year of birth and corresponding age category: o 2003 and 2004 – U/8 o 2001 and 2002 – U/10 o 1999 and 2000 – U/12 o 1997 and 1998 – U/14 o 1995 and 1996 – U/16 o 1993 and 1994 – U/18 o 1988 to 1992 – U/23 · Points will be awarded for each race to determine the overall winners in each of the age categories. · Medals and prizes will be awarded at the final event. Please note that we have included a U/23 category to promote sprinting. Please spread the word and encourage the U/23 paddlers that you know to participate. |
